This is more just thoughts on how people would react to it as opposed to any actual theories about the weird route.
The fact that there even are people thinking that this is worse than the genocide route let alone that being the majority is insane to me, not sure how but apparently killing everyone in the world is supposed to make you feel less worse compared to forcing your lifelong friend to kill one of your friends and a lot of objects made sentient?
There are also all the arguments regarding how Noelle is simply the victim in all this and how the soul is the evil one for manipulating, without accounting for the fact that maybe, just maybe, that the reason all this is possible on a narrative standpoint is that parts of the characters within them wanted it.
And the idea where the supermajority managed to felt uncomfortable playing it is interesting too.
There is always this thing about how if some things gets personal and the outcome is bad it feels worse than if the thing isn't personal but the outcome is worse. The way I see it neither is actually personal and I'm unsure how people managed to project so much of their own will to the fhatacters of DELTARUNE.
Like sure the point of fiction is for people to connect to whatever is inside it, and feel it, this is a completely fair thing to do, what isn't fair in this case is that people don't even understand enough of the situation to talk about how certain characters (especially Kris) actually feels as opposed to being like "omg they are being forced to manipulate their friend I feel so bad about this" as if it isn't obvious enough already that a part of Kris indeed wants the weird route to happen and that it appears as if everyone suddenly forgot about accountability when it comes to teenagers.
Then there's Noelle, "oh she's so poor being forced like that" as if she couldn't have stopped doing whatever the soul tells her to as if she is so innocent that having fear alone makes it such that it justifies all the actions that is ultimately her own decision in the end, and that's before the thorn ring.
And the weirdest part of it all is probably the idea where people think that codependency is just a bad idea. This is said by all the people who heavily relies on what other people want just so they would be able to be successful. Not to mention if we are to say that Noelle's behaviour is now dysfunctional, what exactly makes it such that the alternative where being a person who is now codependent in another direction is somehow the better alternative? Like it's weird to bring it up as an argument when in both cases Noelle has really strong codependency tendencies, with the difference being that one seems horrid and the other seems cute when in reality neither is healthier than the other.
So what? Kris has always been the victim in any route or chapter, so now it is apparently worse because Kris is unable to suppress what they want towards their lifelong friend? People should start realising how just because the bad sides of a person is being triggered doesn't mean the person who has the bad sides themselves has nothing to do about it.
All the "oh I'm the person who did all this" talk is also crazy, same with how there are people who would go out of their way to explain how their ancestors having done something terrible a few generations ago means that they themselves as individuals should now also feel guilty about all the bad things that had happened and that the people who are now the way they are should feel like they must be against them. Instead of thinking of how the people within it could've improved or prevented the situation these people would go on and think about how they are the ones ruining everything and go all sentimental about it as if maybe Kris would've been able to prevent all this if they themselves doesn't have this exact same mentality towards the situation, evident when instead of actually facing the issue all they'd do is to attempt (and failing) to supress their thoughts and hate on the soul.
With Noelle too, all she could think of was that she was a victim in all this, until she stops thinking like that. Yet people would still go around and talk about how Noelle is the victim when being a victim or not is all a matter of perspective and trying to call her a victim after she explicitly stops thinking of herself as one is very disrespectful to both the character and the writer (Toby) of the story.
What baffles me the most is when the same people would go and play games like OMORI or FNAF or Danganronpa. Like ok causing suicide is bad also let me play games that more explicitly has to do with it.
And personally, the best parts are when most other people feels uncomfortable, probably because it has to do with how I would love to have literally anyone forcing me to do things in ways that I wanted just so I'd actually be able to do them. Maybe people will start understanding this more once they understood how this doesn't have to be an all or nothing scenario?
But then people nowadays either do it for things I never wanted or doesn't do it at all because they would think that it would be immoral when it's far from it when I can also simply reject being forced when it isn't what I'd want. Maybe something happened to a lot of people that made them feel as if they must do something simply out of social obligation? And they don't realise that unless they'd starve or lose a lot without it they can simply reject them? If people are social creatures shouldn't people also allow the socialisation to go in one way or the other?
Regardless despite of all this, or maybe because of all this, people have been getting boring lately when I can't talk to people about it without me having to deal with the people while often not having much content at all. And if the people is all the content there is to it maybe I rather not have anyone at all.
